The joint venture will aim to produce a system to allow technicians to safely inspect and repair the blades of offshore wind turbines. Key benfits will include: - a safer working environment, higher productivity, reduced turbine downtime and reduced costs. The sytem was conceived by Kinross based SPAN Access and will utilise the company's patented Technispan system (illustrated above) to provide a safe working platform around the wind turbine blade.
Other partners in the project include Turner Access, ICENI Marine and ORE Catapult. Work will commence in February 2018 with completeion expected in 18 months.
