The Offshore Renewables Institute

The Offshore Renewables Institute (ORI) encourages and facilitates collaborations between our three partner universities: University of Dundee; University of Aberdeen; and Robert Gordon University and the offshore renewable energy sector to deliver industry relevant solutions in the North Sea and globally.  Our collective vision is to become the recognised global authority on the delivery and implementation of offshore renewable energy.

The ORI offers an interdisciplinary and integrated approach bringing together experts, researchers, and knowledge from different disciplines and all three university partners to confront challenges faced by Industry and Government in delivering and managing the offshore energy industry.  Our expertise focuses on four thematic areas:

Moray East Secures Contract for Difference

 

Moray East Offshore Wind farm has secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) to supply electricity to the grid at a strike price of £57.50/MWh. This represents a cost reduction of 50% since the 2015 CfD auction.

 The 950 MW wind farm will be contructed in 2022/2023.
